Microplastics in Air and Food: Tackling Human Exposure with Raman Spectroscopy

|   Event

You are invited to register for our new webinar: Thursday, May 22nd, at 2:00 PM (BST); 3:00 PM (CEST)

Event

Beginning: 05/22/25

Location: Online

In 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) published a report on human exposure to microplastics through diet and inhalation. The report highlighted a critical lack of reliable data on the quantities of microplastics present in food and air, and called for the development of standardized analytical methods, enhanced data collection, and further research into potential health effects. One key area of concern is the limited data on microplastic particles smaller than 10 µm. Recent studies suggest that these tiny particles may pose a greater risk to human health, making this size range a priority for future research. Three years on, meaningful progress has been made. In this webinar, we will discuss the latest developments in microplastics analysis, the existing protocols for monitoring contamination in food and air, and À¶¾¨ÌåÓýÖ±²¥â€™s contributions to advancing this field.

What You Will Learn

  • How to apply Raman spectroscopy to measure microplastics concentration
  • How to adapt sample preparation protocols for food and air matrices
  • Best practices for reporting results and ensuring quality control

Who Should Attend

  • Researchers working on microplastics
  • Policy makers involved in public health and interested in understanding the human exposure to microplastics
  • Scientists and professionals from the food and beverage industry Don't miss this opportunity to stay up to date with the latest scientific developments and practical solutions in microplastics analysis.
